I Sure Hope Those Nurses Learned Something

Shortly after our third child, Katrina, was born, my wife, Patti, and I decided not to have any more children. After considering all the available preventative options we decided that a my having a vasectomy was the best option. So I made an appointment to have the procedure.

I don’t remember feeling all that anxious on the day we drove to the clinic to put a crimp in things. I guess I just wanted to get it over with.

Laying there on the operating table I still didn’t feel anxious while waiting for the anesthetic to take effect. Then, just as the doctor was starting, the door opened and someone asked if a group of nursing students could watch. The doctor said sure and several young nurses walked in. No one asked me what I thought about that. I just wanted to get it over with so I kept quiet not knowing if I should be embarrassed or excited having an audience viewing me in all my glory.

In a few minutes it was all over with, and the crowd dispersed. In a little while I got up, dressed, and walked gingerly to the car.

I sure hope those nurses learned something.

I guess today’s date was appropriate for this story.
